Valentine's Day at School

The boys had the special blessing of getting to celebrate Valentine's Day this year with other children at school. We made pretty cupcakes to share, wrote valentine's for each of their classmates, and even created mailboxes to receives the valentines that were given to them. They enjoyed a day of sweet treats and fun memories.

Valentines for grandparents

When grandparents live far away, Valentine's must go in the mail early to get there on time. Here are the boys making the cards and decorating them. Also, Anthony is beginning to write as you can see on his card. We love to make things for others and brighten their days and share the love God has given us.

Boys in Space

Nathan and Anthony got to try on real space suits and pose for pictures at the Astronomy Days event at the science museum. Aren't they handsome? Despite the looks on their faces, they really did have a great time :)

Astronomy Days

We had the chance to go as a famiy to the Astronomy Days at the local science museum over the weekend. We had a wonderful time as we saw many interesting sites and information as well as made a craft to take home. We especially enjoyed having Daddy with us as he rarely gets to go on these outings. He enjoyed it too :)

Painting like Michelangelo

We've been studying Michelangelo and how he took 4 years, lying on his back, to paint the Sistine Chapel. So, today at the homeschool co-op the boys got a taste of what that must have felt like as they painted while lying on their backs. Their papers were attached to the underneath of the tables and they painted lying down. They had a blast doing this and learned something in the process :)

Caring for the Birds

With the recent snows we began thinking that maybe the birds might have trouble finding food supplies. We took several slices of old bread, broke it into pieces, and spread it along the railing of our deck. In a few short hours, ALL of it was gone. We continued feeding the birds until most of the snow melted and we noticed that the bread was staying put longer and longer and that some of it was never eaten. We knew then that God had provided another food source for the birds. We were happy to be part of the plan :)

Making volcanoes . . .

This past week we have been learning about volcanoes in homeschool, so we decided to make one at home :) Daddy and Nathan were the primary "builders" and they had a really good time making it, but a lot more fun making it erupt :)
